Ultrasound at Guthrie
Ultrasound uses sound waves to make pictures of the body and does not use X-rays or radiation. There are no known harmful effects of ultrasound used in medicine. Ultrasound can be helpful in imaging many parts of the body in many situations. Most commonly it’s used to image the kidneys, gallbladder and other parts of the abdomen, the neck and thyroid gland, blood vessels and babies in obstetrical ultrasound. Ultrasound is often used in women’s imaging. Some preparation is sometimes necessary, and you will be given complete instructions when you call to schedule an appointment.
Guthrie offers ultrasound imaging at our hospital locations and at many of our medical offices.
