Conference Description
This free event will emphasize opportunities for critical care skill review and rehearsal before moving into basic simulation-based training experiences. Basic simulation focuses on providing HQ-BLS care with limited resources and integration with EMS.
Intended Audience
This conference is designated to provide an interdisciplinary collaboration between athletic trainers, emergency medical services, sideline (or on-site) physicians, trauma and emergency department physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who would like to improve their knowledge and competence in sports medicine injuries.
Elements of Competence
The CME activity has been designed to improve learner competence and focus on the American Board of Medical Specialties areas of patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, and systems-based practice.

Conference Objectives

Develop an advanced cognitive understanding of clinical criteria used to determine appropriateness of various safe handling maneuvers.

Demonstrate competency in completion of patient safe handling maneuvers, including repositioning, transfer, and immobilization of potentially critically injured athletes.

Explain advanced cognitive concepts relating to clinical criteria for choosing appropriate equipment removal strategies.

Demonstrate competency in performance of various equipment removal strategies.
