Medication Administration
Changes to Medication Administration in Our Offices
Provider-Based Billing locations must comply with all hospital practices and regulations.
What is changing?
We may no longer administer medications for you that you bring to the office. We must be able to verify that the medications have been stored and handled properly, which we are unable to do with medications brought in from the outside.
How can I have my medication administered in the office?
We may administer your medication if it is delivered directly to us from a pharmacy.
Your provider may order your medication to be sent directly to our office from either a specialty pharmacy, if required by your insurance, or a Guthrie retail pharmacy. When a Guthrie retail pharmacy is used, pharmacy staff will call you for required information and to arrange for any required payment prior to your appointment.
The medication will be available in the office for administration on the day of your appointment.
Can I still bring my own medication into the office for teaching, training and education?
Yes, you may bring in your own medication for in-office teaching, training and education about self-administration. Our staff may not administer the medication; you must self-administer the medication as part of teaching, training and education.
