Saurabh Sharma, MD, a cardiovascular disease specialist from Guthrie’s Heart and Vascular Center, located at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, has been named March’s Everyday Hero by the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED).

PAMED’s Everyday Hero Award is designed to showcase talented physicians who may not view themselves as heroes, but to patients and colleagues they are. The award is a monthly member honor.

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S. In less than three years at Guthrie, Dr. Sharma has earned a reputation for helping patients in the region to proactively work toward improving their heart health.

Dr. Sharma said, “This award is a great honor and a true testament to the excellent cardiovascular care our patients receive at Guthrie,” Sharma added, “I am proud to be a part of such a talented and dedicated cardiovascular team that includes physicians, nurses, LPNs, procedure coordinators, clinical assistants and patient service specialists.”

A ceremony was held at the Patterson Auditorium on the Guthrie Sayre Campus, to officially present Dr. Sharma with the award.
