Guthrie Cortland Medical Center Hosts MASH Camp

Guthrie Cortland Medical Center hosted MASH Camp this week for high school students from throughout the region. The two-day camp, Wednesday, July 24 and Thursday, July 25, exposed students to multiple specialties within the health care industry, including interactive demonstrations from caregivers in the emergency department, maternity, rehabilitation, imaging, pharmacy, operating room and more. 
 
New this year, students played the role of caregivers during a mock crash caused by texting and driving. They were tasked with navigating a chaotic environment to assess, diagnose and treat the "victims" played by actors.

Following the mock crash exercise, students were visited by the Mercy Flight crew who landed on the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center campus, as well as a team from TLC ambulance. They answered questions and highlighted the importance of teamwork from all first responders to ensure the best possible patient outcome.
