Guthrie Cortland Medical Center Recognized Nationally for Maternity Care

We are pleased to announce that Guthrie Cortland Medical Center (GCMC) has been recognized as “High Performing” in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care, the highest possible rating.

The “High Performing” rating indicates results that are well above average on a range of objective quality measures, including rates of unexpected complications, C-sections, and exclusive breast milk feeding.

GCMC was also recognized as a Maternity Access Hospital, which means it provides care in an area of the country that, if not for this hospital, would be a “maternity desert“.

Manuel Arreguin, MD, MBA, FACOG, Obstetrics and Gynecology System and Department Chair, The Guthrie Clinic. “This recognition is evidence that when mothers in Cortland and the surrounding communities choose us for their care, they can take comfort in knowing their newest family member will be cared for like one of our own.”

Of the 817 hospitals U.S. News evaluated, only 75 earned both the Maternity Access Hospital award and a High Performing rating.
