Guthrie Hospital Recognized for Excellence in Patient Safety
Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Towanda Campus, has received statewide recognition for its outstanding performance in patient safety.
The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is recognizing Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Towanda Campus, through its 2023 Excellence in Patient Safety Recognition program. The program honors Pennsylvania’s top-performing hospitals that have demonstrated low rates of healthcare-associated infections. Robert Packer Hospital, Towanda Campus is one of 29 hospitals being recognized out of the more than 270 hospitals in the state.
“This is a testament to the dedication of our Towanda Campus caregivers throughout a patient’s journey,” said Joseph Sawyer, President of Robert Packer Hospital, Towanda and Sayre Campuses. “When community members come to us, they expect us to deliver the highest quality care, and this prestigious recognition helps them feel comfortable choosing Guthrie.”
This year’s recognition is based on each hospital’s performance during 2022, using data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Healthcare Safety Network. To be recognized, hospitals must perform better than the mean standardized infection ratio in three key measures: central line-associated bloodstream infections, catheter-associated urinary tract infections, and clostridioides difficile infections.
“HAP is proud to recognize the hospital teams with exemplary results from their efforts to continuously improve the quality and safety of patient care,” HAP President and CEO Nicole Stallings said. “This year, more hospitals met the criteria to be recognized than any other year since this program began. This speaks to the Pennsylvania hospital community’s strong commitment to patient safety.”
