Guthrie hosted a Community Benefit Brunch to honor the recipients of the Donald Guthrie Foundation Community Benefit Grants from fiscal year 2024. This event celebrated the impactful initiatives supported by Guthrie's commitment to community wellbeing.

Since Dr. Donald Guthrie's arrival in the region in 1910, addressing the health care needs of local communities has remained central to Guthrie's mission. The establishment of the Donald Guthrie Foundation in 1944 further solidified this dedication, ensuring ongoing improvement in the lives of region residents through high-quality programs.

In the latest fiscal year, Guthrie's philanthropic efforts totaled $121 million in charity care, including funding the Donald Guthrie Community Benefit Grant program, supporting community partners in their endeavors that promote health and wellbeing.

Dr. Edmund Sabanegh, President and CEO of Guthrie, said, "Throughout Guthrie's history, we have remained dedicated to addressing the health care needs of our communities. The Community Benefit Brunch is a way for us to highlight some of the impactful programs and initiatives that we have supported that make a difference in people's lives, such as efforts to increase access to mental health providers and obesity prevention in the region."

Representatives from the recipient organizations gathered at the event to showcase the transformative impact of their programs and services on local communities. Their presence highlighted the tangible outcomes resulting from Guthrie's continued support and partnership.

Representatives were present from the following organizations:

  • The Potter’s Hand Foundation
  • Family & Children’s Service of Ithaca
  • The Children’s House Child Advocacy Center
  • Racker
  • Twin Tiers Baby Bank
  • This is My Quest
