Guthrie Names Clinic Space in Honor of Generous Community Members
As we approach the opening of the new state-of-the-art Guthrie Cortland Renzi Health Campus, we are proud to announce that the primary care clinic within the campus is being named in honor of Deborah and Stephen Geibel.
The Geibel Family, owners of the Cortland Standard, has been rooted in Cortland for years, first coming to the city to fill a leadership role at Pall Trinity. Multiple family members have served on the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center Board, and Deborah and Steve have donated to Cortland Memorial Foundation since 1989.
“We are honored to help support the care, health and well-being of a community we have called home for decades,” said Stephen Geibel. “Knowing our support will in any way benefit our friends and neighbors for generations to come fills our hearts.”
“For years, the Geibel family has been quietly supporting the efforts of Cortland Memorial Foundation and the programs and services at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center,” said Sheila Ossit, Director, Cortland Memorial Foundation. “We are excited to express our appreciation for their years of generosity.”
Steve Geibel was also a member of the JM Murray Center Board and is pleased Guthrie has chosen to renovate the former JM Murray Center, in the form of this new facility at 4057 West Road in Cortland.
“The choice to renovate over building new was a conscious one. It’s about being a good neighbor to the community we serve,” said Marie Darling, Sr. Director, Guthrie Cortland Medical Group. “In this case, it meant breathing new life into a facility that had a special place in people’s hearts but had since become vacant. We’re so excited for the community to receive incredible care in an incredible setting.”
The primary care clinic will occupy 16,000 square feet at the front of the facility, featuring a convenient, comfortable setting that allows space for a primary care team that is expanding to meet the growing needs of the community.
A news conference will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. to officially unveil the primary care clinic and the Guthrie Cortland Renzi Health Campus, at which time we will announce additional details about the facility and the services to be offered within.
