Guthrie Observes Childhood Obesity Month

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about one in every six children in America is obese. Obesity can lead to lifelong physical and mental health problems. As Childhood Obesity Month in September draws to a close, Guthrie continues to focus on this important topic.

Dr. Verlyn Warrington, Director, Bariatric Medicine, Guthrie Weight Loss Center says, “Obesity is a serious disease for people of any age, but it has a particularly concerning effect on children. At the Guthrie Weight Loss Center, we are committed to helping our young patients achieve a healthy weight through a customized approach that focuses on the unique needs of each individual patient and their family.”

For children who are obese or severely overweight, the Guthrie Weight Loss Center medical weight loss program can provide the tools and support to reach a healthier weight. To learn more, call the Guthrie Weight Loss Center at 570-887-3920 or visit http://www.guthrie.org/services/weight-loss-center
