Guthrie Sayre Turkey Trot Breaks Record
We want to thank the community for making the 2024 Guthrie Sayre Turkey Trot one to remember. Despite less than desirable weather conditions, more than 1,200 participants showed up on Thanksgiving morning, and with our sponsors, raised more than $65,000, a new record for the event. The net proceeds benefit the Guthrie Cancer Care Fund.
Cancer takes a toll on more than just a patient’s physical health. During times of financial hardship, the Cancer Care Fund can help with direct patient financial support for household bills to cancer patients receiving care across the Guthrie network.
“This event has always been a Thanksgiving tradition for many families in the community and surrounding area,” said Kyle McDuffee, Robert Packer Hospital (RPH) Auxiliary and Director of Operations, Robert Packer Hospital, Towanda Campus. “This year, even with weather being a challenge, people still showed up. The RPH Auxiliary is very happy to be a part of this event. Great job by all the volunteers that worked on this event and to Sayre Borough, Athens Borough, and Athens Township for their commitment to this event.”
