Robert Packer Hospital Receives 2024 Innovation Award
We are pleased to announce that Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital was named winner of the 2024 AIAMC (The Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers) Innovation Award.
The AIAMC Innovation Award is presented to an institutional member who best exemplifies creative and innovative approaches to medical education and research in the following categories:
- The development and/or implementation of innovative medical education programs for residents, physicians, and other staff.
- Innovation significant themes such as provider well‐being, quality improvement, population health, health disparities and/or cultural competency initiatives involving residents, physicians and other staff and related outcomes.
- The development and/or application of scientific discoveries. Areas of research may include education, health care improvement, biomedical research and/or translational research.
Dr. Victor Kolade, Internal Medicine Clerkship Director and Dr. John Pamula, Vice Chair for Quality, Department of Medicine submitted a report, “Widening the QI Team: Riding on Huddle‐Back 2.0.” It details how Guthrie is hard‐wired to pursue several ambulatory quality metrics systemwide and spotlights the expectation of daily office huddles to include provider and non‐provider staff.
Team members review schedules, anticipated patient needs, and environmental and supplies opportunities. Greater staff inclusion has increased the volume of diabetes outreach calls, colorectal cancer screening and pneumonia vaccinations.
