What is Family Medicine?
Family medicine is primary care for your entire family, for all ages and stages of life. Family medicine PCPs offer:
Preventative care
- Health screenings and physicals
- Newborn and well-child care
- Routine women’s health screenings, including pap smears, pelvic exams and breast exams
- Immunizations, including flu shots
- Physicals for school, sports and camps
Management of chronic conditions, including:
- Allergies
- Asthma
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Irritable bowel
Acute and sick care
- Minor injuries such as lacerations, sprains diagnosing broken bones
Short-term illness such as pink eye, skin rashes and sore throats
