Guthrie has an active clerkship and elective program for medical students who are matriculated in an LCME or COCA accredited institution. Rotating medical students at Guthrie have the opportunity to become an active member of our medical team, attending teaching rounds and conferences, taking patient histories, performing physical examinations, and experience our newly renovated emergency department. Guthrie’s clinical rotations and supportive learning environment enable fourth year medical students with an opportunity to grow their medical knowledge through direct-patient care experiences.
Guthrie uses the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system, the most widely used EMR system in the US. Students at Guthrie will be trained on Epic, learning to use the system to view patient records, record patient details, and place orders as required.
We accept audition rotations from June-January. Students are scheduled on one-month blocks that follow the EM Residency block schedule. We do not offer 2-week auditions. Medical Student Rotations at Guthrie for how to apply for an elective/audition experience with our program.
