Free Continuing Medical Education Training in LGBTQ+ Patient Centered Care
As part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion at The Guthrie Clinic, we highly recommend that all caregivers participate in the free trainings from either the National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center and the CAL.
As a participant in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Healthcare Equality Index, over 200 different online, on-demand CME accredited LGBTQ+ training options are free to The Guthrie Clinic staff. These training options include both interactive eLearning courses and live and recorded webinars from the National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center and the CAL.
Topics range from the basics of LGBTQ+ Patient-Centered Care to more specialized topics for clinicians.
We encourage all caregivers at Guthrie to participate in at least one of the training opportunities by May 31st.
Option 1: The Center for Affiliated Learning (CAL) offers a range of free online trainings ranging form basics of LGBTQ+ patient-centered care to more specialized topics such as serving trans youth. CME/CEU credits are available after completing the training courses.
To complete a course(s), please complete the following steps:
- Visit the CAL login page.
- Click sign-up at the bottom to register.
- Use HRC as the security keyword and refer to the table below for your facility ID.
Option 2: The National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center and offers over 50 on-demand webinars in a variety of LGBTQ+ health topics, a number of online learning modules and a monthly live webinar series, all of which meet the HEI training requirement. The webinars and learning modules are offered by The Education Center are free and offer CME/CEU credit.

The Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) is the national LGBTQ+ benchmarking tool that evaluates healthcare facilities' policies and practices related to the equity and inclusion of their LGBTQ+ patients, visitors and employees. The HEI 2022 evaluates more than 2,200 healthcare facilities nationwide.
