Pediatric Ophthalmology
Children may experience a variety of eye problems differently than adults. Pediatric ophthalmology deals with eye disease and vision care in children.
Guthrie’s Specialty Eye Care team includes an ophthalmologist specially trained to diagnose and treat pediatric eye disease. Treatments include:
- Surgery for strabismus (crossed eyes)
- Patching and eye drops for amblyopia (lazy eye)
Vision therapy may be beneficial if your child experiences lazy eye, eye turn, or reading and learning disabilities. Ask your provider if a referral to Occupational Therapy/Vision-Based Rehabilitation is appropriate.
