Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity, equity, and inclusion education online modules and lectures are required annually. Lack of diversity in orthopaedic surgery is a concern, and one the Guthrie Clinic/Robert Packer Hospital Orthopaedic Surgery Residency takes very seriously. In our selection process we are careful not to discriminate based upon race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, or genetic information. Recruiting with a focus on maximizing the diversity of the program will be at the forefront of the residency selection process. The culture of the Guthrie Clinic/Robert Packer Hospital is one of inclusivity and diversity across specialties, and this will help provide an environment where residents from under-represented demographic groups will feel comfortable, and with a support network within their peer group. Additionally, we will encourage and support organizations such as the Ruth Jackson Society and Robert Gladden Society, in an effort to improve minority residents' residency experience, and retention.
