House of Hope
The Sayre House of Hope in Sayre, Pa. provides housing for family members of patients who travel a distance to the Sayre campus. House of Hope volunteers answer phones and take messages, help with fundraising, minor housekeeping and kitchen duties, greet and register new guests, maintain records, and assist guests as needed. Baby Gallery
One of the greatest privileges at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital is participating in the birth of a new child. The Baby Gallery is proudly presented for family and friends near and far to enjoy baby’s first photo.
Cafeteria
The cafeteria at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital is located on the main level (second floor) of the hospital. It is open seven days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Hot food is available as follows: breakfast (6 - 10 a.m.), lunch (10:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.), dinner (4 - 7 p.m.). At other times, packaged food is available in the refrigerator cases. The Coffee Shop, located in the Atrium Lobby is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every weekday, excluding holidays, for the convenience of our patients and their families.
Cell Phones
Cell phones may be used anywhere on campus except within three feet of certain equipment. These pieces of equipment are noted by a special sticker. If you are unsure if cell phone use is permitted in a certain area, please ask a member of the clinical staff.
The Connection, Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop
The Connection Gift Shop is located on the ground level on the concourse between Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital and Guthrie Clinic. Phone orders are welcome during business hours. Delivery to a patient room is available. Credit cards are accepted. It is operated by the Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary.
Hours of Operation:
- Monday–Friday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. September - April
- Monday–Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May - August
- Saturday & Sunday: 1 - 4 p.m. All year

Pastoral Services at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital
Robert Packer Hospital employs a full-time chaplain, Chaplain Michael D. Hughes, for the general hospital population. To reach the chaplain during regular business hours, call 570-887-4309. In an after-hours pastoral emergency, call 570-888-6666 and the hospital operator will contact the chaplain. A non-denominational chapel, open for use 24 hours a day/seven days a week, is located on the third level of the hospital between the C and D elevator banks.
Smoking/Tobacco Use
Guthrie prohibits the use of all tobacco products at all of its campuses and office locations. This policy will be enforced in a manner which promotes prevention and awareness, and provides education for those who use tobacco.
Visiting Hours
Visitation hours are generally between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. After 9 p.m., visitors must enter via a designated hospital entrance and go through a hospital-specific visitor identification process.
The Guthrie Clinic’s visitation practices are non-discriminatory and do not restrict, limit, or deny visitation on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability. A patient has the right, subject to their consent, to receive the visitors they designate, including but not limited to a spouse, domestic partner (including a same-sex domestic partner), another family member, or a friend, and it is their right to withdraw or deny such consent at any time.
Visitation may be restricted or limited when it is deemed clinically necessary and/or as required by federal/state/local regulations. For example, visitors with fever or flu-like symptoms or who have an acute or communicable illness/condition are not permitted to visit.
Visitors are subject to all relevant policies of the hospital and of The Guthrie Clinic and may be asked to leave if their behavior warrants (such as: not following Guthrie’s Tobacco-free Environment policy, displaying violent behavior, or not following an infection prevention policy).
Some departments have additional visitation procedures:
Behavioral Health:
- Robert Packer Hospital Sayre: One visitor at a time.
- Adults: Monday through Friday, 6-7 p.m., Saturday/Sunday from 12-1:00 p.m. and again 6- 7 p.m.
- Adolescents: Monday through Friday, 5-6 p.m.; Saturday/Sunday from 1-2 p.m. and 5-6 p.m.
Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Post-Partum (LDRP):
Visitation Hours on Maternity units are between 9 a.m.- 9 p.m., with a support person(s) staying with the patient allowed to be present at all times. Limit of two support persons during the labor and birth process. If the patient chooses to employ a Doula to accompany her, she will be allowed the Doula PLUS two visitors during labor (if the patient’s medical condition and space allow). Sibling visitation may take place, with the exception of flu season, 10/1-3/31, when children less than 12 are not permitted to visit. Siblings are not permitted to stay overnight.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU):
Two visitors at the bedside during visitation hours, with the exception of family meetings. Visitation is dependent upon the patient's condition and the condition of other patients in that area. Outside of visitation hours, visitation is based on patient/family needs and unit activity.
- Robert Packer Hospital ICU: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Surgical Services:
Children may have one or both parents/guardians with them at all times pre-and post-operation. Visitors are not permitted in the Operating Room, with the following exceptions:
- A support person for cesarean sections unless being performed under general anesthesia.
- A parent of a child, when deemed necessary, until anesthesia is administered.
- A patient with special needs who is calmed by the presence of their guardian or caretaker.
